The differences in feel between Race06 fully patched to post-Caterham-pack level and Race07 are pretty small. I think this is Simbin's first game using GMotor2 as compared to GMotor1.
Race07 credits state GMotor2 from ISI as the engine. If you like Touring Cars and you like sims, try out Race 07. The game is very customizable with the dificulty options and graphics options too. The circuits and cars look fantastic and I didn't even mention the excellent sounds of the game. If this was a FPS, I'd say the graphics were below acceptable norm, but this is a racing game- a sim no less- and as such, the graphics are very doable. The circuits are very good and there are skid marks and a racing groove. It doesn't run as well on my machine as rFactor does. This is based on rFactor and looks an awful lot like it. In reall racing, I have not seen many guys just spin for no reason in a straight line. They brake at very bad times and often either too hard (if they are in front of you) or too late (if they are in back of you) and many crashes occur between AI cars in a straight line that are just stupid. The feeling of the game is just right IMHO and I can tweak the dificulty to how I want it so that I am competitive but not just running rough-shod through the field either. I race with a cockpit view and I use manual clutch and (I am using the Seats) sequential shifter (I'll use h-shifter in the Bimmers) in the game. The game also supports a clutch and an h-pattern shifter. The game works perfectly with TrackIR (there are even options in-game for it. But this is a sim and has full setup options and you can make it as hard or easy (within reason) as you like. The game is made by Simbin and is a full sim based on the WTCC racing series.ĭificulty lies somewhere between rFactor (Race has more aids than rF) and semi-sims like the TOCA series. OK, so I have the full version but I installed it in offline mode since I don't play online (no time for leagues and odd work hours.)
